So after an incredible event in Fehmarn at the Kitesurf World Cup Germany it's time to recap.
Matchu Lopes won the main event with AIRton Cozzolino in second and Paulino Pereira in third. This marks a pivotal moment at a late stage in the 2017 GKA Kite-Surf World Tour as, although Airton stills holds the overall lead, Matchu has propelled himself back into second place on the tour and into contention for the world title after the next, and final, stop in Mauritius just one week from now! He’ll have to close quite a significant points gap to catch up to Airton but anything can happen at competition and even Airton can make mistakes as saw last year in Mauritius when he went out at the hands of Jeremy Chan in round three.
The wind was light on Friday but with beautiful sunshine beating down on Fehmarn there was an autograph signing for the fans and then - always eager to entertain - the riders put on a show for a crowded beach full of onlookers with the world's first ever 'Strapless Tow-Up Big-Air contest’!
All the action from the GKA Fehmarn tour stop.

Matchu Maximises His Momentum for Mauritius - GKA Kite-Surf World Tour 2017 - Round 4: Germany
20th August 2017: Fehmarn, Germany
It was straight into the semi-finals at 10am today after the riders stormed through the first three rounds of the main event and the quarter-finals yesterday.
Could Paulino Pereira go beyond his best (but consistent) third place finish? Julien Kerneur had the potential to score his first GKA Kite-Surf World Tour podium, or would we get another sensational showdown in the final between heavyweight unhooker Airton, whose dominant strapless freestyle performances have led many to wonder if he can actually be beaten on flat water this season, versus the ultra-fluid, smooth and stylish Matchu.
Matchu is the reigning champion, but ideally needed a win here in Germany to close the sizable gap and stand a better chance of taking the fight to tour leader Airton in the final round in Mauritius next month.
Airton puts his marker down early as Mitu exits the competition early
19th August 2017: Fehmarn, Germany
NEWSFLASH: Championship contender Mitu Monteiro crashes out early, while title chasers Matchu Lopes, Paulino Pereira and Airton Cozzolino remain in the final heats in this crucial penultimate contest of the season.
Today's action was fast paced in Fehmarn at the Kitesurf World Cup, the fourth stop on the 2017 GKA Kite-Surf World Tour, as riders progressed through the trials and the first four rounds of the main event in strong westerly winds. The HydroFoil Pro Tour and Kite Park League are also sharing the event site and running events in tandem with the GKA. In this busy beachside festival setting at surely the biggest kitesurfing event of the year, there's a real buzz in the air at Sudstrand!
