Kiteboarding Youth Cup 2016

28. JUNE 2017

GKA Kite-Surf World Tour 2017 starts today!

Hello from Tarifa everyone,

Today is the first day of round one of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour 2017 season which kicks off here in Tarifa, beginning with the riders' registration in the morning at Tangana, Valdevaqueros and hopefully then the start of the trials, with the first possible start at 14.30pm.

Once the trials are complete 24 riders will compete in the main event, that will either begin after the trials this afternoon, or on Thursday.

The 24 riders will be made up as follows:

 – 4 wildcards

 – 8 riders from the trials

 – 12 pre-qualified riders from 2016

As you can see from this Windguru forecast, we’re hoping for a beautiful mix of Poniente winds in the next few days before the switch to strong Levante towards the weekend and the event’s final day on Sunday!

If you’d like to help us start spreading the tour excitement, then that would be great! We have a few content items at your disposal:

THE FULL STORY: 2016

2016 was first year for the GKA’s combination wave and strapless freestyle tour, and what an opening season it was! Catch up on the 2016 story action highlights round up video here!

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

The GKA Kite-Surf World Tour is a mix of pure wave and strapless freestyle events. The tour asks a lot of the riders and, in turn, they need their equipment to perform to the max. So what do the top guys ride and do they switch up their tools between wave and strapless freestyle?
